The Assembly is the Social Sciences Student Union’s highest decision making body
The Assembly, or Fullmäktige (FUM) in Swedish, is the highest decision-making body of the Social Sciences Student Union. This body functions similarly to a parliament, where elected representatives speak on behalf of all members when making important decisions. The Assembly meets at least two times per semester and the decision on the number of meetings belongs lies on both the Assembly and the Board.
The meeting is held in English. The Assembly will discuss substantial changes to the organizational structure, vote on motions, and elect key positions of trust.

The Assembly now consists of total 21 ordinary members - delegates. In case of absence, the ordinary member are substituted by one of the 10 alternate members.
For operational year 2025/2026, there are 10 guaranteed mandates - one for each department. Four of these mandates are reserved and elected by the Social Sciences Student Union’s Sections - Pluto (1), Agora (2) and Socionomsektionen (1). Remaining 6 mandates are appointed based on candidates studying at the department.
The reserved mandates are:
Pluto: 1 seat (Reserved for Department of Human Geography)
Agora: 2 seats (1 for Department of Service Studies and 1 for Department of Communications)
Socionom section: 1 seat (For School of Social Work)
Other departments: 6 seats

1 delegate from Department of Psychology
1 delegate from Department of Sociology
1 delegate from Department of Sociology of Law
1 delegate from Graduate School
1 delegate from LUCSUS
Besides the reserved seats for the sections there are 11 ordinary seats which are open for all students, both admitted to courses and programs regardless of their department. These seats are filled through public elections which are open for all students within the Social Sciences Faculty. Every section is responsible for conducting their own internal elections to choose their representatives for Assembly, and these elections shall be conducted latest the 24th April 2025.

- 24th April: Deadline to candidate
- 5th May: Candidates are officially announced
- 12 - 16th May: Election period
- 21th May: Election results are signed
- 2nd June: Election results are established by the Board
Why should I become an Assembly delegate?Being a member of the Assembly is the best way for you to have a say in decisions that affect your education, your time as a student, and your student union.
Assembly delegates gain valuable knowledge about educational policy, annual meetings, and organizational governance. It’s also a strong merit for your CV. You don’t need to be a politician or have prior experience—what matters is that you have an opinion and a desire to make the Social Sciences Student Union even better! As a member of the Assembly, you are considered an active member of the Student Union and gain access to our student union house Samvetet, invitations to exclusive events, and the opportunity to meet many like-minded friends from across the Faculty of Social Sciences. |
How do I become an Assembly delegate?On Monday, April 20, candidates will be able to apply for the position of Assembly through a form that will be published on the website samvetet.org / samvetet-en.org under Organisation → Assembly. Candidates must complete the form on time and include the following:
How do I nominate an RA delegate?If you wish to nominate someone else to candidate for the position of RA delegate, you can send us their contact details together with a brief motivation why this person would be a good candidate to the RA. You can nominate up to 5 people in one single form.

Once all nominations have been collected, candidates must receive mandates from other social science students by having them vote in a regular election. This election will take place over a week, from Monday, March 12, to Friday, March 16. Each section is responsible for conducting its own internal elections to select its representatives to the Assembly, and these elections must be completed by April 24, 2025. After that, the Election Committee will inform the candidates of the election results.
