The Representative Assembly (RA) is the highest decision making body at the Social Sciences Student Union

The next Representative Assembly takes place on the 12-13th of April 2025
This assembly operates similarly to a parliament, where elected delegates represent all the members in deciding important topics. The RA consist of 31 ordinary members and 11 alternate members. Both the ordinary and alternate members are expected to be present at the meeting and discuss the different matters, however only the ordinary members are allowed to vote. The alternate members needs to be ready to step in to an ordinary member position if needed.
The RA meets one weekend per semester (in April and December) and you are candidating for one meeting at a time. The meeting is held in English. The RA will discuss extensive changes to the organisations structure, take a stand on motions, and elect to important positions of trust.

Why should I become RA Delegate?Being a member of the union’s Representative Assembly is the best way for you to have opinions about decisions that affect your education, your study time and your student union.
RA delegates can gain valuable knowledge about education policy, annual meetings and organizational governance. It is also a valuable merit for your CV. You do not have to be a politician or have experience of similar assignments before - all you need is an opinion and a will to make the Social Sciences Student Union even better! As a member of the Representative Assembly, you will also be counted as an active member of the Social Sciences Student Union and will get access to our student union house, invitation to exclusive events and meet lots of new like-minded friends from the entire Faculty of Social Sciences. |
How do I become an RA Delegate?On Tuesday 4 February candidates will be able to apply for the RA Delegate position through a form posted on this website under Organisation → RA. The candidates needs to fill out the form in time together with following:
How do I nominate an RA delegate?If you wish to nominate someone else to candidate for the position of RA delegate, you can send us their contact details together with a brief motivation why this person would be a good candidate to the RA. You can nominate up to 5 people in one single form.

The deadline to fill out the form and candidate to be RA Delegate is Friday 14 February at 23:59.
Once all candidacies have been collected, the candidates need to gain a mandate from other Social Science students who have to vote for them in an ordinary election. This election takes place over one week from Monday 3 March until Friday 7 March (week 10). After that, the Election committee will inform candidates of the election result. The meeting of the Representative Assembly takes place on 12 April - 13 April.
What is the workload of an RA delegate?
The RA meeting is held one weekend and it is important that you can participate during the whole time. The meeting is in usual work hours, and delegates get fika and coffee provided as a thank you the whole weekend.
Before the meeting, documents and an agenda will be sent out as preparation for all the decisions that are to be taken by the Representative Assembly. These are sent out 2 weeks before the meeting takes place. There will also be some preparatory event such as opinion squares and a workshop about how the meeting is conducted. This events are optional but recommended.
