Summons to the Extraordinary Section Meeting
of the Interdisciplinary Section PLUTO

PLUTO is the Interdisciplinary section of the Social Sciences Student Union. PLUTO's purpose is to support, represent, and build a community for the increasing number of students studying interdisciplinary social science programs at Lund University.

If you are studying under PLUTO's educational mandate (see the list of programmes below), and if you are a member of the Social Sciences Student Union, you have a right to vote and to candidate to vacant positions at the Section Meeting!

This includes the students studying in the: 
  • the Bachelor’s Program in Development Studies,
  • the Bachelor’s Program in Urban Planning,
  • the Master’s Program in Human Geography,
  • the Master’s Program in Human Ecology,
  • the Master’s Program LUMID,
  • the Master’s Program in Society and Politics of the Contemporary Middle East,
  • the Master’s Program in Development Studies,
  • the Master’s  Program in Global Studies,
  • the Master’s Program in Social Scientific Data Analysis,
  • the Master’s Program in Social Studies of Gender,
  • and all independent courses at the Department of Human Geography, the Graduate School, and the International Office.​

The Assembly 2026/2027
Elections are now closed.

The Assembly, or Fullmäktige (FUM) in Swedish, is the highest decision-making body of the Social Sciences Student Union. This body functions similarly to a parliament, where elected representatives act on behalf of all members when making important decisions for the student union. The Assembly meets at least two times per semester, and will decide at the beginning of autumn how many times to convene in the coming year.

At the sixth meeting of the Assembly the Action Plan, Political Action Plan and Budget for the coming operational year is decided. The report on the Political Action Plan and By-elections for the coming operational year are treated. Additionally, four motions submitted by members of the Student Union will be handled.

The Social Sciences Student Union works tirelessly to ensure that your rights as a student are upheld. We work to improve the quality of education and to influence your education in several ways. We also organise social events where you can have fun and meet new people and professional development events to bring you closer to the job market.
The Social Sciences Student Union is one of the nine student unions at Lund University that work to secure the rights you have as a student. We work to monitor and improve the courses and help you if you encounter problems regarding your studies.
​We also work to create contacts between students and business as well as organize fun social events for our members.​
