Alma Riby
Department of Human Geography My name is Alma Riby and I am currently in my first year of a Master's in International Development and Management (LUMID). Having lived and studied in Lund for the past 4 years, I have experienced firsthand the many aspects of academic and student life that the Student Union can change and improve, which has motivated me to join the RA. I highly value quality of education and the effects that it has both on an academic plane, as well as in the social environments of classrooms and on campus. I wish to see the improvement of accessibility and use of communication platforms (such as Canvas) through exploring online lecture recordings for those who need/prefer it, to create the most positive learning environment for students. Emily Wudie Jonsson
Department of Political Science Hey there, I'm Emily! I am a student doing the 3rd year of my bachelors in Development Studies and majoring in political science. It took me a while to get here since I took way too many gap years traveling and exploring the world but also, myself (cringe I know). I've always had a real passion for social movements, climate justice, anti-racism, feminism, empowering people with all abilities, lgbtqia+ rights the list goes on. But one of my favorite engagements is within student organisations, as well as student and workers unions. Through my years at Lund University I have been very involved in many different organisations but always had the social science union in the back of my mind. I have recently done a training in my workers union Seko which has reignited my interest in joining the student union and given me a good skillset to work with. I’m excited about the chance to run for the Social Science Union. I’ve always been driven by the idea of creating positive change, and I believe that starts right here in our own community. I want to use what I’ve learned about social justice and development to make sure every student feels heard and represented. My experience in social movements has shown me how powerful collective initiatives can be, and I’m eager to bring that energy into the union to push for a more inclusive and supportive environment for all of us. Fun fact about me, I guess in my free time I love spending time with my friends ideally in the nature, hiking, camping, kayaking - you name it! But I especially enjoy jamming some groovy tunes on the saxophone with my beloved band. Hope to see you around! Hanna Achziger
Department of Political Science I am a 3rd year student in BIDS and have union experience through my position as a board member and Head of the Labor Market for PLUTO. I think that listening to student opinions during decision making is key to improving student-university relations within Social Sciences & working with the RA is a great way to achieve that! Indraraj Gunasekara
Department of Sociology of Law My name is Indraraj, and I am Attorney-at-Law (licensed in Sri Lanka). Following an Apprenticeship at the Attorney-General’s Department of Sri Lanka, I gained litigation experience at the law firm, D L & F De Saram. I have also worked as a Legal Consultant, working with a Women's Rights and Human Rights Organisation in Sri Lanka, focusing on LGBTQ+ rights, human rights, and legal advocacy, developing and presenting accessible analyses of key Supreme Court decisions on the Gender Equality Bill 2024 and Penal Code (Amendment) Bill 2023 (decriminalisation of homosexuality), which were translated into local languages for community use. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in the Sociology of Law here at Lund University. I enter my candidacy with the hope of supporting meaningful change and exchanging ideas with my peers. Louis Freeman
Department of Sociology Hey Everyone, I'm Louis, a passionate student in Lund University's prestigious Social Sciences department. I have a passion for representing The Student Voice in governance context and a loose grasp on the English language. I feel I would bring a lot to the role because I run all around with a lot of energy all day, work tirelessly for the student body, and have a lot of passion in general. The Student Voice is the only voice that I want to hear and this semester I'll hear it loud and clear, far or near! So vote for me and let's all get represented af!" Nicole Yoder
Department of Political Science My name is Nicole Yoder and I was nominated as a candidate for this delegation with the reason given simply that I care about students’ rights. The core questions I would set on the agenda would be mental health and sustainability. I believe everyone should feel good about themselves in an environment that will last. I have large ambitions for being a student representative, wether that be for one person or a larger group. Viktor Sundt
Department of Political Science I am 26 years old and a student of peace and conflict studies, orginally from Västerås. I am a long-time active member of the student union, and wish to continue contributing to its strategic decision-making. Important issues for me are campus development, education monitoring (at large) and organisational development. Kara Brix Georgsen
LUCSUS My name is Kara (they/them), I'm a second year student at the LUMES programme. I am applying to be a candidate for the Representative Assembly largely for three reasons: I want to engage with students' possibilities to engage in politics at the University, I want to engage in topics of diversity and queerness and wellbeing and finally I want to engage in pushing for more sustainability action and awareness on campus. Vote for me if you want cool, clever, chill vibezzzz <3333 Pablo Kunz Quintanar
Department of Political Science Dearest members of the Social Sciences Student Union. My name is Pablo! I am currently in my final year of a Bachelor's in Development Studies with a major in Political Science. Student life, both academically and socially, has been a very good experience throughout my time in Lund. I am candidating to become a delegate in the Representative Assembly because I see it as a fun and meaningful opportunity to be more engaged with and contribute to student life and matters that affect it. I am also very excited about the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and experience that will be very beneficial for my personal and professional growth. Thank you for your consideration! Ifreen Akhtar
Department of Political Science Hello! I'm Ifreen, a Development Studies student majoring in Political Science. I have a strong passion for advocating for equal rights, and diversity, a commitment to a sustainable future, and enhancing student experiences. I am running for the Representative Assembly because I believe I can bring new perspectives and approaches to make the union innovative and enhance the experiences of students. I have a lot of different experiences from being a project lead at a youth organization that advocates for social justice. I have also been a part of different student associations. Therefore, I have worked with different groups of people and youth. These experiences have shown me how important this role is to make sure everyone's voice is heard and how important it is to strive for what we believe in. By being in the Representative Assembly, I believe we can make important differences and apply the knowledge that social sciences have taught us. |

School of Social Work I have been vouching for students to be heard from the very start of my time at the university. My experience is primarily with social work students, as I have been a student representative of Socionomsektionen in the faculty's institution board (Institutionsstyrelsen) where I have represented students voices' every since the start of my first term. Through my role as representive for my term (terminsombud), I have listened to students from every term at the School of Social Work (Socialhögskolan) and brought forth my own grade's thoughts and opinions directly to teachers and faculty. However, I also have experience with the election committee of the Social Sciences Student Union (Samhällsvetarkåren) and have participated in many union events where I've met many students from different sections of the student union. I think that every decision that concerns students will have students's influences. As part of the RA, I want to continue to improve the education for all students. I want to make sure the union is a place where all students feel welcome and heard. I want to continue to represent students and contribute to making the union the greatest it can be. Nika Aghajani

As Chairperson of the study council and Student Safety Officer at Graduate School, our student team collaborates with the faculty at our department to make the space more accessible, resources readily available, and make sure our international voices are being heard. We take student's grievances to the board and make sure that they are validated and fixed! I want to do that for all social science students at Lund university. We deserve the same treatment and credibility as the other Faculty's at LU. You deserve to feel seen and you deserve to feel safe! Vote for SK! Timea Bács

I have been active in student councils and unions since high school, occupying positions as president of my school's student union, as well as the county's. I have been involved in the Social Science Student Union for over an year now, as well as being a class representative since first year. In the Student Union I have fulfilled student representative positions in my program's Steering Group for the past year, and since this year I am the Chairperson of the Education Committee and Study Council in the PLUTO Interdisciplinary Section. I believe that students' voices are vital for quality education, and I am passionate about playing a part in creating a better and more inclusive study environment for all. As someone from outside Sweden and who has experienced education structures in several countries, I have an interest and some insight into academic life, and would like to apply my previous experience and knowledge to my current educational institution. Felicia Melin Andersson
Department of Sociology Hi everyone!! My name is Rodrigo. I'm a Master's Student in Social Anthropology from Brazil and the father of a lovely daughter. Most of my learning I owe to social movements and indigenous communities I've been engaged with. I worked in the Social Sciences for more than a decade and experienced how tough it is still to fill the positions we are most prepared for. Connecting our knowledge to society's challenges is one of the priorities for our future as professionals, and the Union is our primary tool. That is why I'm running again for the Representative Assembly, which is the heart of our decision-making process. To help build a Union that is close to the students and involved in creating a better and fairer society, standing against colonial violence and committing to climate action. Toufan Farahani
Department of Human Geography I've previously worked in the Pluto board as a student representative for BIDS. Additionally, I've worked in several student organizations and I believe I've generally been able to represent the student body in my duties. I hope to provide an insight to the views of my fellow students and other aspects from my work as a student representative. |

Department of Human Geography Hello! I am a student at the Master’s program in Human Ecology and I wish to participate in the RA to influence the workings of the Union and to bring up issues that are important to the students and the university. Best wishes! Joy Francke
Department of Sociology Hi! My name is Joy Francke, and I’m currently a 3rd year Development Studies student here at Lund University. I’m running for the Representative Assembly because I want to play a more active role in shaping the academic and social experiences we have as students. I believe that being involved in the "behind-the-scenes" aspects of our education gives us the opportunity to make real, impactful changes. Whether it’s helping to improve student-faculty collaboration, promoting events that reflect our diverse community, or advocating for better academic resources, I want to be part of the process that ensures we are all empowered and well-represented. I’m excited to contribute my voice and ideas to the Assembly and work together with all of you to make our time at Lund even more meaningful. Maria Filonczyk
Graduate School Hi! I study Social Scientific Data Analysis at the Graduate School and I'm a PoliSci graduate from the University of Amsterdam. I spent my gap year working alongside the Portuguese Red Cross where I coordinated educational projects for children in the local Roma community and sex ed projects for Portuguese schoolchildren, so I believe my varied international and organisational experience would prove very useful in the Union. I have a background as an environmental activist and a sustainable platform organiser. I work part-time as a researcher for an association focused on the social inclusion of people with disabilities. In my free time I bakery-hop with my friends, cook and go on weekend getaways. Nils Riby
Department of Human Geography Hi! After four years of studies in Lund I have now started my Masters in International Development and Management. I wish to candidate for the RA as I have experienced the effects that bad scheduling and planning in courses and programs can have on students, not only on their studies but also on their social life and well-being. Furthermore, “less important” issues such as differentiating coffee pricing in buildings and areas frequently used by students of the social sciences faculty is a subject that I would like to explore. I am very social and love hearing about people’s experiences and opinions. As my master’s program has a majority of international students, I hope to engage them and bring forth views and opinions from different academic and cultural backgrounds. I would also like to involve more people that maybe do not necessarily know what the student union’s role is and what it can do for them, but also the values that it stands for. Rebekah Vance
Department of Political Science Hello my name is Rebekah, you can call me Bekah, and I would be honored to be a part of the Representative Assembly for the Social Science Union here at Lund University. I’ll strive to represent my peers to the best of my ability, and use my experiences at Lund and beyond to facilitate a safe and happy student environment. Sylvia Deyo
Department of Sociology of Law I am a second year Master's student at the Sociology of Law and have been the Study Council Chairperson for the department since September 2023. I believe I have a good sense of what the students in my department and in the Social Sciences more generally care about and will be a good representative at the assembly on their behalf. I am also familiar with the Union through my work with them and so I also have a good sense of what matters to the Union and want to help make decisions to improve the Union for the students who it serves! Una Husadzic
Department of Strategic Communication My name is Una and i am head of communications for the Helsingborg section Agora and I would like to nominate my self to keep myself engaged in the inner works of the Social Science Student Union Elin Melin

Department of Sociology Hey everyone! I’m Muntaha, a Welfare Management and Policies student with a deep passion for social justice, sustainability, and making student life better for all of us. I’m running for the Representative Assembly because I think it’s time to bring some new and fresh ideas to the decision-making process. As someone who’s been involved in youth organizations, I know how important it is that our voices are truly represented when big decisions are made. Whether it’s structural changes, key motions, or elections, I want to make sure that the issues we care about aren’t just heard but actually acted on. Sunniva Sæverud
Graduate School I want to be part of the representative assembly and be able to influence the student life here at Lund! I see it as urgent and important for the wellbeing and prosperity of our education to be engaged in student life and politics. As a student representative at Graduate School I have an understanding of the union work and the student life of international master students. As your RA I aim to represent and amplify the voices of students at Lund that are aiming to make our campus the best place possible. |
