Please note that participation in Assembly meetings is only mandatory for Assembly members, and Board members and full-timers of the Social Sciences Student Union. The Meeting The meeting will be held with English as the working language. All members of the Social Sciences Student Union have the right to attend Assembly meetings, and partake in the discussions. Those constantly co-opted also have the right to make moves in the meeting (propose amendments), with the exception of Inspector and Pro-inspector. Assembly members hold the right to vote when the meeting goes into decision. For more information about the rules in place for Assembly meetings, see the Policy for Assembly Procedure. Agenda and documents At the Winter Assembly meeting, the Annual report and Economic report for the previous operational year are treated, along with the Auditors’ report and discharge for the previous board. Ordinary elections of delegates to the SFS General Assembly take place. Other submitted errands are treated if time allows. Agenda and documents for the meeting will be sent out to Assembly members and constantly co-opted 5 business days before the meeting, December 1st. The meeting documents will also be made available for all members on the Social Sciences Student Union’s website. Motions and errands Is there a point you wish to see raised during the Assembly’s meeting? In that case, you must submit this before the corresponding deadline. The following deadlines apply: Motions – latest 24 November A motion is a suggestion for a decision submitted by an individual member of the student union. It could propose something you want the student union to do, a new rule you want to implement, or an opinion you think that the student union should promote. All motions that are submitted receive a written response by the Board of the student union. Therefore, motions must be submitted no later than 10 business days before the meeting, i.e. latest November 24th. We encourage you to follow the student union’s Motions Template. Make sure that your suggestion for decision, i.e. your move, is clearly stated. Send your motion to [email protected] Discussions – latest 28 November Is there something that you want the Assembly to discuss? Submit your question to the Assembly Presiding Committee ([email protected]) no later than 6 business days before the meeting, i.e. latest November 28th. Your discussion point should have a clearly outlined question, and please include some background as to why you wish for the question to be raised. Information – latest 28 November Do you hold a position of trust in the student union, and want to inform the Assembly of something? Submit your information point to the Assembly Presiding Committee ([email protected]) no later than 6 business days before the meeting, i.e. latest November 28th. Large information points should be submitted accompanied by a written document. Interpellation – latest 24 November Members of the Social Sciences Student Union are able to direct formal questions, called interpellations, towards trustees of the student union, which they are then obligated to respond to before the Assembly. Interpellations must be submitted in writing to the Speaker of the Assembly ([email protected]) no later than 10 business days before the meeting. Late errands Errands that are submitted after the above-presented deadlines, may only be treated if a qualified majority of the Assembly agrees to it. Elections The time is now – to candidate for vacant positions of trust in the student union! At the Winter Assembly meeting, ordinary elections of delegates to the General Assembly of the Swedish National Union of Students (SFS FUM), which takes place during the spring semester, are carried out, in addition to by-elections to the student union’s vacant positions. Candidates are also invited to present themselves in person at the meeting! Elections will be held early-on in the meeting. Once the meeting documents have been sent (1/12), the Assembly Presiding Committee will inform you of an appropriate time to show up. The form closes on November 28th, at 23:59.
